TalkTalk Best TV - YouView TV, Broadband & Calls - Now £15.50 A Month

[Updated: 17th April 2013] TalkTalk (talktalk.co.uk/besttv) is offering a free YouView box worth £299 to new customers and existing TalkTalk Essential customers who switch to its £15.50 a month unlimited TV, Broadband & Phone package, known as TalkTalk Plus TV.

Existing TalkTalk Plus Phone & Broadband customers can also get the YouView box for free and will not have to pay any additional TV subscription.

YouView from TalkTalk is an exciting new digital TV service which offers unlimited TV delivered by a combination of TV aerial and broadband to a user’s YouView set top box.

In addition to be able to watch, pause and record 78 Freeview channels, including some in HD, TalkTalk customers can also use the TalkTalk Player and Electronic Programme Guide (EPG) to literally scroll back and catch up on the last 7 days TV covering the BBC, ITV, Channel 4 & Channel 5.

The TalkTalk Player also provides exclusive free access to thousands of hours of on demand TV from over 4,000 UK & US TV shows and box sets.

Premium content, such as all the Sky Sports and Sky Movie channels can also be enjoyed on a flexible one month contract basis, as opposed to a fixed 12 month contract.

In addition to TalkTalk’s YouView TV service outlined above, the £15.50 per month TalkTalk Plus TV package also includes unlimited TalkTalk Broadband with no monthly usage caps, plus unlimited anytime phone calls to UK landlines.

A free wireless router worth £30 is provided as is free technical support and free online security with TalkTalk’s HomeSafe service.

Both new and existing customers ordering YouView TV from TalkTalk online at talktalk.co.uk can qualify for engineer installation at a reduced cost of £25 (usually £50) or the FREE self install option.

Exising TalkTalk customers will receive their FREE YouView box with 3 working days of ordering online, while new customers will receive their FREE YouView box within 3 working days of their TalkTalk Broadband service being activated. FREE delivery applies in both instances.

Thanks for your question.

If you’re on TalkTalk’s ‘Essential’ broadband and phone package, then you’ll need to re-contract with TalkTalk and upgrade to their TalkTalk Plus TV package with free YouView box. This package offers unlimited TV, Broadband & Anytime Calls to UK landlines for £14.50 a month, excluding line rental. Free engineer installation is currently being offered, though we’ve been advised that this could be reverted back to the standard £50 install fee at anytime.

If you’re on TalkTalk’s ‘Plus’ broadband and phone package, then you should not need to pay any additional TV subscription to get the free YouView box etc.

You should be able to upgrade online at the TalkTalk website.

Thanks for the questions.

As far as we’re aware, TalkTalk don’t currently offer Multi room as an option.

There’s also no 3D programmes currently on the TalkTalk YouView TV service but in the future 3D films and shows may be available.

You can find a list of TV channels available on the YouView service from TalkTalk here – TalkTalk TV channels. Sky discovery and Sky animal planet are not on the list.

The TV signal is via terrestrial aerial.

Re. HD channels, according to the TalKTalk site, there’s 4 HD channels currently available which are BBC ONE HD, ITV1 HD, Channel 4 HD and BBC HD.

You can record one channel while watching another. The TalkTalk site also states that you can even record two shows while watching another on demand or that you have recorded previously.

Assuming you already have the broadband and calls ‘Essentials’ package with TalkTalk, it’s likely that you’ll need to re-contract with TalkTalk for their TalkTalk Plus TV package with free YouView box.

This package offers unlimited TV, Broadband & Anytime Calls to UK landlines for £14.50 a month, excluding line rental. A £50 engineer installation fee applies, though we’ve recently been advised that this is being waived by TalkTalk for a limited time.

If you’re an existing TalkTalk Broadband & Calls ‘Plus’ customer, then you shouldn’t need to pay any additional monthly TV subscription to receive the free YouView box etc.

Existing customers should be able to upgrade to the TalkTalk Plus YouView TV package online at the TalkTalk website – though naturally it’s your responsibility to check TalkTalk’s terms, conditions and charges etc yourself.

In answer to your question, TalkTalk’s YouView service offers unlimited TV delivered by a combination of standard terrestrial TV aerial (e.g for all Freeview channels) and broadband (e.g. for on demand and catch-up TV from the likes of the BBC iPlayer and ITV Player) to a user’s YouView set top box. No dish is required.

Lesley – Yes, ESPN Sports is available on the TalkTalk YouView TV service for an additional £10 a month. You can add and remove ESPN Sport on a monthly basis as it’s one of TalkTalk’s TV Boosts – which means you don’t need to be tied into a long contract to enjoy this premium content.

Bob – The same applies to other TalkTalk TV Boosts like Sky Sports (which costs an additional £30 a month for the 5 Sky Sports channels) and Sky Movies (which cost an additional £15 a month for the 11 Sky Movie channels).

These changes are difficult to keep up with.I already pay by direct debit. Will I be able to continue to pay by this method with the new 24mth contract?I already get on most days 56mps will this new broad band be any faster? Will I get a free youviewbox?

Marilyn – re. moving house, you’ll first have to check that your new house can receive TalkTalk phone and broadband services. Would suggest giving TalkTalk a call on 0800 049 7865 to discuss with them as they will cater for existing customers moving house.

Brian – I don’t see why you won’t be able to continue paying by DD. If you’re upgrading from TalkTalk’s Essential package to their Plus TV package then yes, you should get a free YouView box. Regarding broadband speeds, I’m not aware of any speed increases with the Plus TV package.

Therefore, I’d suggest giving TalkTalk a call on 0800 049 7865 to find out what they say. You can also place your FREE YouView box order over the phone with them.
