TalkTalk Add ‘Magic Desktop’ Child Safety Internet App

TalkTalk (talktalk.co.uk) has launched a free child safety Internet app, known as the Magic Desktop, for all its customers.
The Magic Desktop suite of applications enables parents to introduce their kids to the Internet in a child-friendly environment.
Parents can use services such as ‘My First Browser’ to create a white list of websites their child can visit. They can also use ‘Magic Mail’ to put together a list of approved email contacts.
Children can also undertake various learning exercises and upon completion build up a points tally that they can use to play games.
Commenting on Magic Desktop, TalkTalk’s Sylvain Thevenot said: “We are very pleased to be able to offer this product for free to our customers”.
Thevenot continued: “Magic Desktop gives children a great introduction to computers and the internet and parents can have peace of mind that they can give their child the freedom to explore but can minimise risks and help children behave safer online”.
TalkTalk customers can see a demo of the free Magic Desktop application at http://www.talktalk.co.uk/magic-desktop/demo.

TalkTalk Add Free Broadband Connection Offer

TalkTalk (talktalk.co.uk) has launched a free broadband connection offer to replace its recent 3 months free phone and broadband promotion.
The free broadband connection incentive saves new customers £29.99 which is higher than the 3 months free offer which generated savings of £19.47.
Customers switching to TalkTalk can expect to pay just £6.49 a month for up to 8Mbps broadband speeds together with unlimited evening & weekend phone calls to UK landlines.
Local daytime calls to UK landlines are also included together with anytime calls to other TalkTalk customers.
TalkTalk’s next generation broadband network now covers 85% of the country. As it is their own broadband network, many customers switching to TalkTalk will not need a MAC code from their existing broadband supplier – which makes the whole switching process far simpler.
The free broadband connection offer is available online only. Further details can found at the TalkTalk.co.uk website or our TalkTalk Broadband package review.

TalkTalk Add 77,000 New Broadband Subscribers

TalkTalk, (talktalk.co.uk) part of the Carphone Warehouse group, added 77,000 net new broadband subscribers to its service in the quarter to the end of September 2009.
The performance smashed City estimates of 41,000 and boosted TalkTalk’s broadband customer numbers to 4.1 million, which includes 1.3 million customers from the recently acquired Tiscali UK business.
Despite the strong performance, the company lost 62,000 Tiscali UK customers during the acquisition process. This is thought to be due to the uncertainty some Tiscali customers had over its future.
However, with the Carphone Warehouse focusing more upon customer retention, the churn rate of Tiscali UK broadband customers has improved considerably.
TalkTalk’s boost in subscriber numbers comes following the success of its Essentials package, which offers up to 8Mbps broadband speeds together with evening & weekend phone calls.
The package is free for the first 3 months, followed by just £6.49 a month thereafter.

Readers interesting in switching to TalkTalk and taking advantage of the 3 months free offer can find out more at the TalkTalk.co.uk website.

TalkTalk Extends 3 Months Free Broadband Offer

TalkTalk (talktalk.co.uk) has confirmed that it is extending its 3 months free broadband and phone offer until Friday 9th October.
The offer is available on the company’s Essentials package which provides up to 8Mbps broadband speeds together with evening & weekend phone calls to UK landlines.
Local daytime calls to UK landlines are also included within the package together with phone calls to 0845 and 0870 numbers.
Usually £6.49 a month, the 3 months free offer generates a saving of £19.47. This will be credited to the customers first or second bill once their TalkTalk Broadband has become activated.
Customers who switch to TalkTalk are also unlikely to need a MAC code from their current broadband provider as they will be moving on to TalkTalk’s own next generation broadband network which now covers 85% of the UK.
Readers interesting in switching to TalkTalk with this offer can found out more at the TalkTalk.co.uk website.

TalkTalk Consider Broadband Controls For Parents

TalkTalk (talktalk.co.uk) is considering introducing parental controls for a home’s broadband connection to help stop illegal file sharing online.
This would involve parents choosing from a cinema style classification list so that their home’s broadband connection could not be used to log on to file sharing or adult websites.
Charles Dunstone, the Chief Executive of the Carphone Warehouse which owns TalkTalk, said, “We are working on introducing parental controls within our network, so your household can decide whether you want to be a U, 14, or 18 certificate or unclassified”.
Customers choosing to have their settings as either 14 or U, would block access to illegal file sharing websites and adult sites.
The proposed system would be network based which means customers would not need to install any additional software onto their computer.
Mr. Dunstone continued, “This is something that we are going to do anyway, as a service to our customers. But through doing it we can also help the content industry by blacklisting sites that have BiTorrent files on them”.
Following its acquisition of Tiscali UK, TalkTalk is the UK’s largest residential broadband provider with more than 4.25 million customers.
TalkTalk’s Essentials package at £6.49 a month is the UK’s leading value for money broadband and phone package. It is currently available with the first 3 months free.
The package can be ordered online at the TalkTalk.co.uk website or by calling TalkTalk on 0800 049 7865.

TalkTalk To End 3 Months Free Broadband Deal

TalkTalk (talktalk.co.uk) has announced that it is to end its 3 months free broadband and phone deal this Wednesday, the 26th August.

The offer, available on its popular broadband and phone ‘Essentials’ package, provides a saving of just under £20 for new customers joining the company.

The ‘Essentials’ package provides customers with inclusive evening & weekend phone calls to UK landlines together with broadband speeds up to 8Mb with a 40Gb usage cap.

Anytime local daytime phone calls are included with offpeak calls to 0845 and 0870 numbers also part of the package.

Customers requiring additional usage allowance, security and increased broadband speeds can pay from £2 a month extra for TalkTalk ‘Boosts’.

Customers switching to TalkTalk are likely to not need a MAC code from their existing broadband supplier as they will be moving on to TalkTalk’s own LLU broadband network which covers 80% of the UK.

The 3 months free broadband and phone offer can be ordered online at the TalkTalk.co.uk website or by calling TalkTalk on 0800 049 7865.
