TalkTalk Broadband Deals Prove A Hit With Brits
TalkTalk’s (talktalk.co.uk) low cost broadband and phone deals are proving a hit with Brits following news that the company attracted 42,000 new broadband customers in the first quarter of this year.
TalkTalk now has the fastest growing broadband provider base in the UK, pushing its total number of subscribers to almost 4.2 million Brits.
The company’s trading statement also revealed that its revenues in the first quarter of the year jumped by 21.7 per cent to £1.69bn.
Commenting on the news, Charles Dunstone, TalkTalk’s Chairman said: “This year, we will focus on two main priorities for the business: maintaining our momentum in the broadband market through continuing to grow TalkTalk’s broadband base and average revenue per user; and completing our ‘one company’ integration programme”.
Dunstone added that “his priority was to add between 140,000 and 180,000 new customers over the coming 12 months”.

TalkTalk Broadband Promotes £6.99 Essentials Plan
TalkTalk (talktalk.co.uk) has continued its promotion of its popular broadband and phone Essentials plan following a series of advertisements in the national media.

TalkTalk Broadband Help & Advice Centre Opens
TalkTalk (talktalk.co.uk) has launched a new broadband help and advice service as part of its new Customer Experience Centre that opened in Soho, London on Monday.
Located in Broadwick Street, the company’s first physical street presence offers a ground-floor drop in service for anyone who wishes to talk about their broadband service to one of TalkTalk’s ‘Broadband Experts’.
Non TalkTalk customers are welcome and can sign up to a TalkTalk package should they choose to, whilst also trying new online products.
A customer lounge exists on the first floor which offers TalkTalk customers free Wi-Fi access aswell as hot and cold refreshments.
Located in a building previously held by Tiscali UK, (the ISP TalkTalk purchased last year), the remaining floors provide office space for start-ups and entrepreneurs with TalkTalk looking to create an incubator space for innovative new technology businesses.
News of the customer centre opening follows a recent announcement from TalkTalk that it plans to extend its fibre optic broadband coverage to nearly 90% of the UK by the end of the year.

TalkTalk Broadband To Increase Coverage To 90%
TalkTalk (talktalk.co.uk/switch) has revealed plans to boost its UK broadband coverage to nearly 90% of the UK population by the end of the year.
The UK’s biggest broadband and phone provider currently covers around 80% of the UK population having unbundled 1,700 telephone exchanges.
The process of unbundling a telephone exchange is known as Local Loop Unbundling (LLU) and involves a provider like TalkTalk installing its own kit in a telephone exchange so that its customers can use its next generation broadband network as opposed to BT’s existing network.
TalkTalk plans to unbundle a further 300 exchanges over the coming year resulting in over 2,000 enabled exchanges and near on 90% coverage of the UK population.
Commenting on the news, TalkTalk’s Communications Director, Mark Schmid, said: “We’re also upgrading the capacity of our network in anticipation of ever-higher internet usage. The industry expectation is that consumption of data online will increase by a whopping 50% year on year over the next few years. We’re enhancing our network to cope with this explosive rise in demand”.
Schmid continued: “This upward trend is being boosted by the rise of online TV and video services like BBC iPlayer, ITV Player and, of course, YouTube. Soon these will be joined by Canvas, the online TV service we are a part of, which will provide an iPlayer-style catch-up service on your TV set, while also giving you additional content and features”.
