Virginmedia.com/skyhd Offers Sky Sports HD On Virgin
Virgin Media (Virginmedia.com/skyhd) has added Sky Sports HD1 and Sky Sports HD2 to its High Definition TV line up with customers able to watch the premium channels from the 2nd of August.
Existing Virgin Media customers already subscribing to a Virgin TV package containing Sky Sports in standard definition need only pay an additional £7 a month on top of their TV package for the HD subscription.
The Virgin Media V HD set top box is required and is currently free of charge, while the V+HD box costs a one-off £49.
New customers considering joining Virgin Media can choose from 3 specially created football TV packages. These cost from £27.50 a month and include 65 digital TV channels, Sky Sports HD1 and HD2, Sky Sports 3 and 4, Sky Sports News, plus unlimited UK weekend landline calls.
On demand catch up TV services like the BBC iPlayer, ITV Net Player, 4OD and the Virgin 1 Player are also included in the package and can be watched on Virgin TV.
Commenting on the launch, Virgin Media’s Executive Director of Digital Entertainment, Cindy Rose, said: “As the new home of HD telly, we’re delighted to bring our customers Sky Sports in HD at incredibly competitive rates.
Rose continued: “With the rapid growth of HD content, customers are demanding more and more from their TV service, and with our growing range of HD channels and on demand content in HD, Virgin Media is the best place for the whole families’ entertainment needs”.
Ten Sky Movies HD channels have also been added, which together with the forthcoming additions of Sky1 HD and Sky Arts HD brings Virgin Media’s total number of HD channels to 30.
Virgin Media’s HD sport line up also includes ESPN HD, EuroSport HD, BBC HD and ITV1 HD with the latter three not costing any additional subscription cost.

Virgin Media Broadband, Phone & TV Free For 2 Months
Virgin Media (virginmedia.com/bundles) has launched a 2 months free offer on selected Virgin Media Broadband, phone and TV bundle packages.
The incentive, which runs alongside the company’s free installation offer, means new customers can save up to £102 when they switch to Virgin Media and take a qualifying broadband, phone and TV bundle.
The qualifying bundles available start from £18 a month (after the first 2 months free) and contain up to 10Mb broadband, 65 digital TV channels, plus unlimited weekend phone calls to UK landlines.
Virgin telephone line rental of £11.99 a month is required throughout the duration of the 12 month contract (including the first 2 months).
New customers requiring faster broadband speeds can opt for the 50Mb broadband bundle which is free for 2 months, then £33.50 per month thereafter.
This bundle provides up to 50Mb fibre optic broadband, 65 top digital TV channels, plus unlimited weekend phone calls to UK landlines and Virgin mobiles.

Virgin Media Plans 400Mb Fibre Optic Broadband
Virgin Media (virginmedia.com) is already planning for future fibre optic broadband speeds up to 400Mbps as it gears up to launch its up to 100Mbps service in Q4 of this year.
According to techradar, the ISP is launching a new modem by the end of the year that will be up to 400Mbps capable and that’s in addition to the ongoing commercial trials of its up to 200Mbps broadband speed service.
Commenting on the capabilities of Virgin Media’s fibre optic broadband network, Jon James, Virgin Media’s Executive Director of Broadband said: “The DOCSIS 3 network really gives us a dial we can turn to give more speed to customers if we think that is the right thing to do both for those customers and commercially”.
James continued: “We will continue to give Virgin Media customers free upgrades on an equipment basis because we are the speed leader and we think it’s going to continue as a way we do broadband”.
Around 55% of UK homes are currently capable of receiving Virgin Media Broadband speeds up to 50Mbps, with prices starting from £15 a month when taken with a Virgin Media phone line.

Virgin Media Fibre Optic Broadband Now £5
Virgin Media (virginmedia.com) has launched a web exclusive £5 per month offer for its up to 10Mbps fibre optic broadband service.
Usually £12.50 a month, this new online offer means new customers switching to Virgin Media’s size L fibre optic broadband package can now save themselves £22.50 over the first 3 months of their contract.
Virgin Media’s broadband service comes with an unlimited download usage allowance (a fair use policy applies), free PC Guard security and a free ‘N’ wireless router.
The £5 per month broadband offer is available when taken with Virgin Media’s Talk Weekend package which includes phone line rental and unlimited weekend UK landline calls for £11.99 a month. Weekend calls to Virgin Mobiles are also included.
A BT phone line is not required while many customers switching to Virgin Broadband from a rival supplier like TalkTalk or BT will not need a MAC code in order to switch.

Previously due to end on the 30th April, this popular offer, which generates new customers a saving of £40, is now expected to end on the 31st May.
