Virgin Media (virginmedia.com/broadband) has announced plans to commence the roll out of 100Mbps fibre optic broadband speeds by the end of 2010.
The new 100Mbps service will be Virgin’s flagship broadband product amongst its existing 10Mb, 20Mb and 50Mb packages and offers speeds 24 times faster than the average speeds provided by rival providers.

The launch of Virgin Media’s 100Mb service will be a historic moment and will mean the UK will be comparable to other leading broadband nations”.
News of the 100Mbps roll out, the extension of its 200Mbps trial to Coventry and record net customer additions for Q4 2009 led to Virgin Media shares jumping 7%.
Virgin’s fibre optic cable broadband packages are available to 55% of UK homes. No BT phone line is required.
