Virgin Media 100Mb Broadband Rollout Gathers Pace

Virgin Media’s (www.virginmedia.com/100Mb) 100Mbps fibre optic broadband service is now available for sale and installation to over 350,000 UK homes following the rollout of the service to an additional 150,000 households in 5 towns.
Residents in Cheshunt and Hatfield in Hertfordshire, Pentwyn in Cardiff, Southport in Merseyside and Treforest in Rhondda Cynon Taf, Wales can now order the UK’s fastest broadband service online at the www.virginmedia.com website, with prices starting from £35 a month.
These new areas join the 200,000 homes in Barry in the Vale of Glamorgan, Colchester in Essex, Farnborough in Hampshire and Heckmondwike in West Yorkshire that were the first able to access such speeds.
Commenting on the news, Virgin Media’s Jon James said: “We’ve invested many billions of private money in order to build a growing network that already passes approximately 13 million homes across the UK. We’re racing to get these ultrafast speeds across this entire area as fast as we can to meet demand”.
Customers connected to Virgin’s 100Mb service can download a music album in 5 seconds, a TV show in around 30 seconds and a high quality movie in just 1.5 minutes.

The greater bandwidth afforded by the 100Mb service also means multiple users going online at the same time in a household should experience a hassle-free connection.
New customers considering switching to Virgin Media for the 100Mbps service need only pay from £12.50 a month for Virgin’s 50Mbps broadband speeds while they wait for the 100Mbps service to be rolled out to their area.
