O2 (www.o2.co.uk) has confirmed that its 2 months free home broadband offer is to end tomorrow on the 6th August 2009.
The offer, which provides a saving of up to £44, is available on all O2’s home broadband packages – which are called O2 Broadband Standard, O2 Broadband Premium and O2 Broadband Pro.
Included within each package are unlimited downloads, free UK customer service, McAfee PC security software, free connection, a 30 day money back guarantee and a free wireless router.
O2 Broadband Standard offers speeds up to 8Mbps while O2’s Premium and Pro provide up to 20Mbps. All packages are available on a 12 month contract with prices starting from £7.34 a month after the first 2 months free.
In a recent broadband awards ceremony, O2 Home Broadband won 9 out of 11 awards, including Best Value For Money, Best Technical Support, Best Customer Service and Best Quality of Information when changing broadband provider.
O2 has today launched a new technical support helpline, known as ‘O2 Tech Support’ for its home and mobile broadband customers.
The new pay monthly service gives customers advice on not only broadband issues, but also on problems such as how to remove a virus from your computer or how to set up a home cinema system.
The service is a full technical helpline and not just its existing broadband helpline that O2 will continue to run for free.
The service will cost users £7.34 per month. The Head of Pay Monthly, Jonathan Earle said, “We have listened to what our customers have asked for and believe that O2 tech support will differentiate us in this market. All our broadband customers will continue to get free advice for everything that relates to their O2 service, such as their router, modem or our network”.
Earle also mentioned the “No Fix No Fee“ guarantee, he said, “Customers want a one stop shop where they can buy a product, get support, advice and a fix if things go wrong. That is what O2 tech support will provide. In addition as a guarantee if we can’t fix it we won’t charge the customer”.
In a nutshell, O2’s new chargeable technical support service is for additional help beyond their standard customer service. It will give advice and solutions to a variety of technical issues that can commonly occur.

A new survey from home & mobile broadband provider O2 has revealed that the British public would rather cut back on their food bills than reduce the amount they pay for their broadband access.
The O2 Digital Families survey found that out of the 500 families who were questioned, 67% could not contemplate spending less on their broadband bills during the recession, compared to 24% who wouldn’t cut their food shop.
Another surprising statistic revealed that 66% said that they wouldn’t mind splashing out on new gadgets if they were at a reasonable price.
When commenting on the results, Alistair Johnston, an O2 representative said, “This report reveals just how pervasive technology now is within UK homes. We strongly believe that technology has a hugely positive role to play in helping families better manage their hectic lives, but also ultimately in being able to spend more time together.”
Overall O2’s Digital Families report shows just how important technology is in our lives today. The credit crunch may be taking its toll on our finances, but as long as we have technology, such as games consoles and broadband, it somehow helps to lessen the effects of the recession.
New customers and existing O2 mobile customers can now get free O2 Broadband for the first month.
The first month free O2 Broadband offer applies to any O2 Home Broadband package ordered online by the 31st March 2009.
