BT Infinity Rollout Competition Gets 200,000 Votes

BT (BT.com/infinity) has revealed it has received over 200,000 votes so far from communities across the UK in its BT Infinity rollout competition.
Launched on the 1st of October this year, BT’s Race To Infinity competition will give 5 winning communities BT’s super-fast Infinity Broadband service, with speeds up to 40Mbps, by early 2012 at the latest.
People have been voting in their thousands to help their local telephone exchange win the fibre optic broadband top prize, with Caxton in Cambridgeshire and Malvern in Worcestershire currently leading the race with over 1,000 votes each.
The BT Race To Infinity competition runs until December 31st 2010 and will help BT determine where its fibre optic broadband will be deployed in the coming years.

BT plans to roll out its super-fast BT Infinity Broadband service to two thirds of the UK by 2015, with 4 million premises having access by the end of this year.

BT Broadband £25 John Lewis Gift Voucher Offer To End

BT (www.BT.com/broadband) is set to end its offer of a free £25 John Lewis gift voucher on Tuesday the 16th November.
The offer is available to new BT customers ordering a Broadband and Calls package, or a Broadband, Calls and TV package online at the www.BT.com website.
The BT Broadband and Calls packages start from £13.99 a month, with the first 3 months subscription currently free of charge when customers order the BT Autumn deal online.
This deal provides broadband download speeds up to 20Mbps, a 10GB monthly usage allowance, a free BT Home Hub worth £89.99 and unlimited Wi-Fi minutes at 2 million hotspots across the UK.
Unlimited evening and weekend phone calls to UK landlines and 0845/0870 numbers are also included.
For an additional £4 a month at £17.99, new customers can order a BT Broadband, Calls and TV package.
With this package, customers can receive 4 times as much broadband usage allowance (up to 40GB), advanced security, a revolutionary TV set-top-box and access to the latest films, TV box sets, kids TV shows and live sport.

BT Infinity Broadband Roll Out Passes 3 Million Homes

BT (BT.com/infinity) has rolled out its super-fast BT Infinity Broadband network to over 3 million UK homes.
In its latest trading statement, the company also revealed that more than 4,000 people per week were now ordering BT Infinity Broadband, with 38,000 already connected to one of the two fibre optic packages on offer.
BT Infinity is BT’s next generation fibre optic broadband network providing download speeds up to 40Mbps, together with upload speeds up to 10Mbps.
4 million UK homes are expected to have access to BT Infinity enabled telephone exchanges by December 2010 as the company continues its roll out to cover two thirds of the country by 2015.
New and existing BT customers in a BT Infinity enabled area can choose from 2 fibre optic broadband packages which offer download speeds up to 40Mbps.
BT Infinity Broadband Option 1 has a 40GB download usage allowance and costs from £7.49 a month when taken with BT’s unlimited weekend calls package.
BT Infinity Option 2 has an unlimited download usage allowance (subject to a fair usage policy) and is priced from £19.99 per month when taken with BT’s unlimited anytime calls package. Upload speeds up to 10Mbps are also available.

BT Vision To Bring BBC iPlayer On To TV

BT (www.BT.com/btvision) has announced plans to bring the BBC iPlayer to televisions via its BT Vision digital TV service.
The phased release will start next month with all BT Vision customers able to access the full BBC iPlayer service on their TV by April 2011.
Commenting on the news, BT Retail’s Chief Executive of Television and Online Services, Marc Watson, said: “We are really excited to be partnering with the BBC to bring the BBC iPlayer service to BT Vision customers. The launch of BBC iPlayer on BT Vision adds to the vast range of quality entertainment already available to our customers”.
BT Vision is BT’s on demand digital TV service, offering access to thousands of hours of TV, films and sports programmes using a customer’s BT Broadband connection.
With BT Vision, customers can watch all their terrestrial and Freeview channels, have the ability to pause, record and rewind live TV, catch up on the best of last week’s shows, plus watch any extra films, TV shows and sport on demand. Premium channels like Sky Sports 1 and 2 can also be added from £6.99 a month.
BT Vision costs from £7.50 a month for existing BT Broadband customers. Non BT customers can get BT Vision digital TV, up to 20Mbps broadband speeds and unlimited UK weekend phone calls in one great package costing from just £17.99 per month.

BT Broadband Wi-Fi Network Tops 2 Million Hotspots

BT (BT.com/freewifi) has announced that its Wi-Fi broadband network now has 2 million hotspots across the UK – all of which can be used for free by BT Broadband customers.
The announcement reaffirms BT’s position as the UK’s largest Wi-Fi provider with hotspots available in major city centres, the London Underground, high street chains, independent businesses and homes.
Well-known brands offering BT Wi-Fi access include the Hilton, Thistle, Ramada Jarvis and Macdonald hotel chains, Caffe Nero and Starbucks coffee stores, Welcome Break and RoadChef Costa service stations and British Airways airport lounges.
Commenting on the announcement, BT Retail’s CEO, Gavin Patterson, said: “Demand for wireless access is growing at a record rate, we’ve added more than 780,000 hotspots in the last six months and will continue to meet the demand”.
BT is the only UK broadband provider to include free, unlimited Wi-Fi, within all their broadband packages.
BT Broadband customers using their iPhone, iPad, laptop or other Wi-Fi enabled gadget can access the internet wirelessley when out and about by connecting to their nearest Wi-Fi hotspot.
Customers with an iPhone or Android device can also download a free app from the iTunes App Store or the Android Market that gives easy mobile access to the free Wi-Fi and includes a mapping service so that customers can find their nearest hotspot.
Non BT customers wanting access to BT’s free Wi-Fi network will need to become a BT Broadband customer first.
BT’s latest deals for new customers includes free BT Broadband and offpeak calls for 3 months which is available to order online at the www.BT.com website. Orders placed before the 16th November will also qualify for a free £25 John Lewis gift voucher supplied by BT.
