BT.com/unmissabletv – Add BT TV For £3 A Month

Unmissable TV With BT TV

BT is offering existing BT Broadband customers unmissable TV from just £3 a month at the bt.com/unmissabletv website.

Subscribers to BT’s Entertainment Starter TV package will be able to pause, rewind and play live TV with the BT set top box (worth £149) that is supplied for FREE.

There’s access to over 80 Freeview TV channels and 20 radio channels while a revolutionary scroll back Catch Up TV service is also included.

The Catch Up TV service enables viewers to literally scroll back the Electronic Programme Guide (EPG) on their telly in order to watch the TV they have missed over the last 30 days via the BBC iPlayer, ITV Player, All4 and Demand5.

Users also have instant access to thousands of US and UK TV shows, blockbuster films, kids’ shows, music videos, sport and more – which means they can watch what they want, when they want and simply pay per on-demand pack, with packs starting from just £5 a month.

Existing BT Broadband customers need only pay an additional £3 a month for the BT TV Entertainment Starter package. Orders MUST be placed online at the bt.com/unmissabletv website.

For new customers switching to BT Broadband, there’s an option to order online BT’s Broadband & weekend calls package together with BT TV for just £24.49 a month. This price includes BT phone line rental.

The BT TV set top box is included for FREE in this package as is BT Sport (until the 1st of August 2017), weekend phone calls to UK landlines and a £75 BT Reward Card. Find out more at BT.com/tv.

Legal Stuff

A 12 month contract applies for any BT TV package, while a one-off £50 activation fee is required for the BT TV Entertainment Starter package. Customers can opt for BT’s Entertainment Plus package at £5 a month, which has no activation fee.

Can you send me a list of channels, in addition to the standard ones, that I can get

mrs linda hartley

Hi Linda

Thanks for getting in touch.

In addition to the standard Freeview TV and radio channels, there’s currently 4 Freeview channels in HD to watch – these are BBC1 HD, ITV1 HD, Channel 4 HD and BBC HD.

There’s also access to around 10,000 programmes on ‘Catch Up’, using the likes of the BBC iPlayer, ITV player, 4OD, Demand5, and Milkshake on your telly.

Ordering YouView from BT also provides access to the BT Vision Player, which has an additional 10,000 programmes available on demand, including the latest blockbuster films and the best UK TV shows, sport and kids entertainment. These are available to watch from as little as 50p a show.

Hope this helps.

Kind regards
Steve

I note there is a £49 “connection charge”. Does this mean that a BT engineer will visit the house, connect the new service and demonstrate how the equipment may best be used?

Thanks

I’ve been with Sky since 2003.
The primary reason is the Sky Sports channels.

Could I integrate a Sky Sports package with BT and this offer?

If so, what would be the cost?

Hi Don

Thanks for getting in touch.

As far as we are aware, the £49 activation fee includes optional ‘powerline adaptors’ to make it easy for customers to set the BT YouView box up themselves.

However, if customers want one of BT’s Engineers to set up BT YouView for them, this will cost an additional £35.

Hope this helps.

Kind regards
Steve

Hi Jon

Thanks for the question.

Sky Sports is currently not available on the YouView box from BT, however, it is coming, though we don’t have confirmed timescales just yet from BT.

You can get premium sports channels like Sky Sports 1, Sky Sports 2 and ESPN now with the BT Vision+ box. To get this, you’ll need to live within a BT Infinity Broadband enabled area.

Hope this helps.

Hi There, We are B T customers with Broadband & telephone Very interrested in your unmissable T V deal. Could you inform us of what Channels we would get on Freeview TV. Can you confirm that it will just cost us an extra £5.00 per month to view these Freeview channels..Many Thanks..Gordon.

Hi Gordon

Thanks for visiting our broadband news site and getting in touch.

You can find a full list of the Freeview TV and radio channels available by visiting BT.com/Freeview_Channels.

As far as we’re aware, existing BT Broadband customers will need to pay an additonal £5 a month for YouView TV from BT, plus an activation fee of £49.

You’ll also need to sign up to a 12 month BT TV contract and you may have to re-contract your broadband and phone, so worth checking the t and c’s when you order online.

Hope this helps,

Kind regards
Steve

Do I read this right? £49 for the equipment, plus £35 for a competent BT engineer to install and test, plus, £60 per annum fee, plus upwards of£00.50 to view. Freeview has 116 assorted channels, OK so no special tricks with it but at least it is “free” and improving.

Gordon Ratcliff

With a sky box you do not need a standard tv aerial as everything comes through sky. I would like to know if we replaced our sky with this system would we need to have a tv aerial?

Hi Gordon

Thanks for getting in touch.

It’s worth considering that in most cases, customers should be able to set the YouView box up themselves and not need to pay the £35.

The YouView box, worth £299, is also included in the package, so BT’s one-off £49 activation fee plus £5 a month looks pretty reasonable.

Hi

I live in the country with a pretty poor broadband daownload speed (4.7 during the day). Is this fast enough for YouView. In the evenings when I use i-Player it has to pause fro a quick buffering session.

Thanks

Bill Morton

Hi Bill

Thanks for getting in touch.

YouView’s recommended minimum broadband speed for watching On Demand programmes is 3Mb/s (Megabits per second).

Hope this helps.

I noticed the ‘plus line rental from £10.75 a month’
in the box at the top of the page.
Apart from the £5 charge, does my current calls/broadband package line rental cover this new service?
If we just use it to pause TV, rewind etc and watch last weeks programmes will there be no further charge?
How do I find out if my broadband is fast enough, we have had problems with buffering on I-player .
If we choose to watch on demand films are they charged on the phone bill?

Hi
You told Jo that she needed TV aerial to get YouView but then advised Bill that he needed a minimum broadband speed of 3 Meg to download YouView through tel line. Which is it?

Hi Kevin

Thanks for visiting our site and posting your question.

You need a TV aerial (with good signal) to get the Freeview TV and Radio channels on the YouView box. You also need minimum broadband speeds of 3Mbps to use the Catch Up TV and On Demand TV features of the YouView box.

Hope that helps.

Steve

Hi Karen

Thanks for getting in touch.

The ‘plus line rental from £10.75 a month’ applies to new customers switching to BT who order a BT Broadband, Calls (and/or TV) package.

It sounds like you’re already an existing BT Broadband and Calls customer paying BT line rental, so it’s likely (though please check yourself) you’ll just need to pay the £5p/m additional charge for YouView, plus the £49 activation fee.

There’s no further charges for pausing TV or using the scroll back service to watch last week’s programmes.

The YouView from BT service includes access to around 10,000 TV programmes & films that are available on demand from the BT Vision Player. Some of these are free, while others cost from 50p a show. Chargeable shows/films you watch on demand will be added to your BT bill.

You’ll need broadband speeds of 3Mbps or higher to use the Catch Up and On Demand features of YouView and you should be given an idea of your speed before you order YouView at the BT.com website.

Hope that helps.

Kind regards
Steve

Hi, does the you view box need to be connected directly to the bt home hub or can it be done wirelessly, only the hub is upstairs and the tv is downstairs?

Hi Graham

Thanks for getting in touch.

The YouView box is not Wi-Fi enabled, so the best thing for you to do is use the powerline adaptors that should come with the BT YouView package.

Plug the powerline adaptors into your home electricity (mains) sockets that are close to your router and your hub.

Then, plug one Ethernet lead from the powerline adaptor to your router and one from the other powerline adaptor to your YouView box.

Once done, this should then use the mains wiring around your house to connect your hub to your YouView box.

Another option, is to buy a Wi-Fi Adaptor that essentially makes devices that have an Ethernet socket work over your Wi-Fi network.

Hope this helps.

We currently have BT infinity broadband and calls and I also have sky tv. What we would like to know could we have you view with the tv in an upstairs bedroom
Many thanks

Brian

Hi Brian

Thanks for getting in contact.

I don’t see why you can’t have the YouView box with your TV in an upstairs bedroom. You could use the powerline adaptors (mentioned in my response above to Graham) to connect your BT Infinity Home Hub to the YouView box.

Hope that helps.

Can I still record on a YouView box from an aerial input or only via a bradband link – and so run the risk of going over my bradband limit?

Bill Morton

Hi Bill

Thanks for getting in touch.

You can record TV shows etc from any of the Freeview channels on to the YouView box from an aerial input. The YouView box has 500GB storage capacity, which is plenty.

i am interested in youview in the ad they
have sent me there is no mention of a £49 set up
fee is there a fee or not if there is a fee then that
puts me out of the market thank you

I am an recent BT Infinity subscriber. Can I watch BT Sport channels free with the Youview box ? At present I can only do this through a laptop.

Hi Rob

Thanks for the question.

You’ll have to add a BT TV package to your monthly subscription in order to watch BT Sport on TV. Prices start from £5 a month for a TV package from BT that includes a 500GB set top box (BT Vision box or YouView box), access to all Freeview channels, 7-day Catch-up TV and On Demand TV.

Hope that helps.

Hi Frederick

Thanks for the question.

As far as we are aware in the T&C’s there is a £49 set up fee – however the FREE YouView box worth £299 helps offset this.
