BT Infinity Rollout Reaches 5 Million Premises
BT (BT.com/infinity) has confirmed that its BT Infinity rollout to British homes and business will reach the 5 million mark by the end of June.
The milestone comes following its announcement of a further 66 telephone exchanges which it plans to enable with its super-fast fibre optic broadband infrastucture.
The 66 new BT Infinity exchanges will be located in areas across Britain (from Bournemouth to Aberdeen) and between them cover nearly one million additional homes and businesses.
With broadband speeds up to 40Mbps, BT Infinity is BT’s fastest broadband ever and promises to transform people’s experience of the Internet.
With unlimited weekend phone calls to UK landlines included, people living in a BT Infinity enabled area can currently get their first 3 months free of charge, followed by £18 a month thereafter.
BT is spending upwards of £2.5 billion on its BT Infinity rollout programme and plans to have its super-fast fibre optic broadband service available to two-thirds of UK homes and businesses by the end of 2015.
