TalkTalk Wins Best Home Phone Provider Award
TalkTalk (talktalk.co.uk) has won the UK’s ‘Best Home Phone Provider’ award in the latest customer satisfaction survey conducted by Homephonechoices.
The phone and broadband supplier won seven out of the ten categories including ease of understanding bills and clarity of pricing.
Awards for quality of customer service were won by Sky, while niche supplier Primus Saver was voted best provider in the value for money category.
Commenting on TalkTalk’s success, a spokesperson said: “It really makes a difference when customers themselves have made it clear how happy they are with our services”.
He continued: “We’ve worked hard on making sure our home phone customers get the best possible service and value, and these results show our efforts are really paying off”.
TalkTalk’s home phone packages can be purchased on their own or as part of a bundle with broadband. Prices start from just £6.99 a month for evening and weekend phone calls plus up to 8Mbps wireless home broadband.

TalkTalk Broadband Nets 36,000 New Customers
TalkTalk Broadband (talktalk.co.uk) added 36,000 net new broadband subscribers during the third financial quarter, boosting its total broadband customer base to 4.15 million.
The news comes in a trading update from parent company the Carphone Warehouse which also showed that TalkTalk’s revenues rose by 29% to £446 million during the quarter.
Commenting on the update, Charles Dunstone, the Carphone Warehouse Chief Executive Officer, said: “TalkTalk Group’s brand profile, value for money proposition, and customer service have continued to generate real momentum in the market”.
He continued: “We are now confident that our base at the end of the current financial year will be towards the top of our existing 4.1 million to 4.2 million guidance range. The Tiscali integration remains well on track to create a highly efficient platform for providing our customers with excellent value and service”.
TalkTalk is the UK’s second largest broadband supplier after BT. The company offers up to 8Mbps broadband plus evening and weekend phone calls (known as the ‘Essentials package’) for just £6.99 a month. Local anytime phone calls are also included.

3 Mobile Broadband Deals Get Speed Boost
3 (three.co.uk) has upgraded its mobile broadband deals with the latest next generation Huawei E1750 dongle that’s capable of boosting download speeds to up to a maximum 7.2Mbps.
From today, all of 3’s contract mobile broadband packages will include the E1750 dongle which will be supplied free of charge.
The Huawei E1750 dongle provides a maximum download speed of up to 7.2Mbps compared to the maximum 3.6Mbps speeds offered by the ZTE MF627 dongle that it has replaced.
Upload speeds have also been boosted from 384Kbps to up to 2Mbps, making it much faster to upload photos to social network sites like Facebook and Twitter when on the move.
It is also reported that the E1750 offers a 50% faster browsing experience than the ZTE MF627 when a user is on a large website like the bbc.co.uk or amazon.co.uk.
Easy to install, 3’s new dongle is also Mac and PC compatible and is available for free with mobile broadband deals starting from just £7.50 a month.
3’s pay as you go mobile broadband products will continue to use the ZTE MF627 dongle for now.

No Connection Charge For New BT Phone Lines
BT (BT.com) has extended its no connection charge offer for new installed BT phone lines until the 16th February 2010.
Homeowners wanting a new BT phone line installed for free, saving themselves £124.99 in the process, must take a BT Broadband and phone calls package in order to qualify – the cheapest of which starts from £7.99 a month for the ‘Get Connected’ package.
The ‘Get Connected Calls and Broadband’ package includes unlimited UK weekend phone calls and up to 20Mbps home broadband with a 10GB usage allowance.
Inclusive phone calls at the weekends to 0845 and 0870 numbers are also included together with the free BT Home Hub for wireless broadband access in and around the home.
Customers can also take a calls, broadband and digital TV package (prices start from £15.49 p/m) and still qualify for a no connection charge on the new BT phone line installed.

BT To End FREE BT Vision + Box Broadband TV Offer
BT (BT.com) has confirmed that it is to end its FREE BT Vision + box broadband TV offer today.
From tomorrow the Vision + box will cost a discounted £15 (that’s still pretty reasonable) when ordered online as opposed to the full price of £45 when ordered by phone.
The BT Vision + box has been free for those new and existing customers ordering a BT Vision Value pack online at the BT.com website.
BT Vision is BT’s on demand digital TV service that uses a customer’s BT Broadband connection and the Vision + box to deliver a range of TV, film and sport content to a users digital TV screen.
Top shows like 24 and Prison Break, together with Premiership football can be paid per view or as part of a monthly subscription value pack.
BT Vision Value packs start from as little as £7.50 a month for existing BT Broadband customers.
New BT customers can opt for a special Starter Package which provides up to 20Mb broadband, unlimited weekend UK calls and BT Vision with 4 viewing packs from just £15.49 a month.
The BT Vision + box is available in black to match BT’s iconic black home hub wireless router.
