Virgin Media Double National Broadband Speeds
Virgin Media has doubled its National Broadband speeds from 8Mb to up to 16Mb.
Formerly known as their ADSL broadband packages, the renamed Virgin Media National Broadband offers new and existing customers the chance to trial the increased speeds at no additional cost for the first 3 months.
After 3 months, customers will need to pay an extra £5 a month on top of their normal package to keep the ‘up to 16Mb’ service.
Unlike its Mother Of All Broadband fibre optic cable offering, Virgin Media National Broadband is delivered over traditional telephone lines and is available to 99% of UK homes which have a BT phone line.
Prices start from just £6 per month for a 16Mb broadband package that includes evening & weekend phone calls to UK landlines.
This pricing applies to 70% of UK homes where Virgin Media has unbundled the local BT exchange – a process known as Local Loop Unbundling (LLU). Should customers not live within one of these areas, they should expect to pay around 20% more.
